Merging Internal and External Conflicts
Internal conflict and external conflict…key elements of a story. Merging the two will engage readers and keep them turning the pages.
Speakers:
Madonna Bock and Sally Berneathy
Madonna Bock was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. Her love of reading and writing started in elementary school. She loved it so much she became a teacher then a library media specialist. Madonna writes middle grade stories that feature strong diverse characters. Her books have won several awards, including a full scholarship to the Austin SCBWI Conference.
Sally Berneathy took Mark Twain’s advice in the 1990s: “Write what you know.” Sally had been married three times. She wrote romance novels for Harlequin/Silhouette. A decade later, Sally had been divorced three times and fantasized about murdering her ex. Only massive doses of chocolate kept her finger off the trigger. Now she writes about murder and chocolate and the occasional ghost of an ex. Her log-line is "Making Murder Fun."
