Attend a Monthly Meeting
We welcome you to attend one of our Midwest Romance Writers (MRW) monthly meetings as a guest. If you would like to join us officially, our dues are only $40 for an entire year of fun, camaraderie and learning.
Our members range from multi-published to just beginning.
Midwest Romance Writers (MRW) meets on the second Thursday of each month at Carrabba's Italian Grill, 10586 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66212, just north of 435. Our meetings begin at 6pm with dinner and socializing. At 7pm we have a brief 15-20 minute business meeting followed by our presentation/discussion. Presentations/Discussions are planned to last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. We have Zoom available for members who can't attend the regular meetings.

Fast Draft Your Novel from Page One to Done
June’s program will be a video of Jessica Brody’s workshop regarding steps she has learned to get that first draft done quickly.
Jessica Brody is the author of the #1 bestselling Save the Cat! Writes a Novel plotting guides. She has also written over 20 novels for teens, tweens, and adults including The Chaos of Standing Still, A Week of Mondays, Amelia Gray is Almost Okay, the Unremembered trilogy, and the System Divine trilogy. Her debut mystery novel, How to Write a Murder, releases in September 2026 from Bantam Dell/Random House. Her books have been translated and published in over 20 languages and several have been optioned for film and television. She lives with her husband and dogs near Portland, OR.
Her latest book, Page One to Done was just published by Hay House this May.

All MRW members have access to our private IO Email Group. This communication tool is used for MRW announcements, member questions, and between-meeting discussions. Our members enjoy weekly motivational quotes, accountability, and the ability to keep each other up to date on good news.
Critiques
We feature frequent open critique sessions and all members have the opportunity to join a critique small-group which meets on a regular basis.
Retreat
MRW hosts an annual members-only writing retreat in October. The annual retreat is chock-full of mini-programs, open critique, creative writing exercises, and lots of laughter and fun with fellow writers.
