Ever wonder how or why people decide to become writers?
I genuinely believe that for most writers, the desire to create with words is so innate that it’s going to manifest at some point. But the catalyst for each of us is unique.
For me, I knew from a pretty young age that I was going to write romance. Probably late middle school to early high school. My catalyst was reading my mom’s Harlequin collection, and specifically, the book “Flowers for My Love” by Katrina Britt.
I re-read this book a couple months ago to recapture that magic, and I’m not here to tell you that I rediscovered a literary masterpiece. In fact...wow....how times have changed. We’ll leave it at that.
But I will say that the nostalgia was definitely there for me. And the reminder that there aren’t many things in life that bring me more joy than a beautifully written happily-ever-after.
Do you have a favorite book from years gone by that made you fall in love with romance? Or whatever your favorite reading genre is? Let us know the title/author. I’m not going to necessarily recommend you go back and read it, but I would encourage you to take a minute to appreciate the path it’s led you down.
Especially in these cold winter months, I’m loving being snuggled in with my heated blanket, hot coffee, and a good book.
Happy Reading Everyone!!
